Rainbow Bridge Memorial (Blue Merle)
The Request
My mother in law’s soul dog was put to sleep this week. I have been trying with AI for DAYS to create a photo of the dog walking across a rainbow bridge I can give to her. I’ve gotten versions of different breeds of dogs, dogs missing legs, random humans for some reason, cartoon dogs, etc and I’m at my wits end. Can someone help me? Attaching pics of the dog and some of the failed attempts of what I’m looking for.
The Results
Pets are always a weakness of mine. I love doing pet edits, even the memorials, because it allows me to create a beautiful memory for someone, and that makes the job feel meangful. I created this background using AI, after being inspired by a figurine being sold for pet memorials that used the same phrase. The imagery of the rainbow bridge concept is inspiring, and I wanted to honor that. I imagined it high up on a, beautiful, isolated mountaintop, climbing into the sky where a heavenly light greets the pets into they pass into the afterlife.
Other Versions
As I often do, I decided to turn this into a painting as well. I have been hooked on learning digital painting this year, since getting some new software. Out of literally thousands of brushes, I have only really used a dozen or so, but I feel like I am getting better with them! As I am not a true artist who can just paint a scene from scratch, I start by running a dozen or so different painterly filter effects, then compare, blend and mask them together until I get a look that I like. Then I take the image into Corel Painter and paint over top of the photo, and the photo layer gets removed after.
