Wedding Logo – Otter & Fox

The Request

My Fiancé wants this logo for our wedding. Gift favors, etc. I feel like it’s so close!!! Just can’t get the final touch up. We want the following changes:

  • Better detail on the mountain
  • The otter to have a normal looking tail
  • My fiancé wanted to have the fox tail wrap the otter, and otter tail in front, but I feel it’s too much to ask
  • If you have a giant heart and wanted to put D&S below it, I will send you good vibes for several weeks!

The Results

This is one of those cases that proves that no, not everyone can just use an AI image generator to get the results they want. AI is a useful tool, but even the “easy” online versions can benefit from a little knowledge and experience. Knowing how to describe your image to get the results you want is not as simple as it sounds… remember, you are not talking to a person, you are talking to a computer, so it only understands what it has already been programmed to understand. This means that knowing the right words to use can make a world of difference!

In this case, the requester had a basic idea of what they wanted, and used an AI generator to create a drawing that mocked up that idea, but it was too simple and had typical AI issues. They had worked on it for a while, but just couldn’t get it to the level of detail and accuracy that they wanted.

This project was also a bit funny because I misunderstood their 3rd request and did it wrong, but they ended up loving it anyway! They had wanted the fox tail to go around behind the otter, and wrap all the way around her and back to the front. I honestly think this would have looked a bit odd, because it would have required the fox tail to be comically long! But what I misread was that the fox tail should wrap around the otter tail, which I think turned out to be a much better arrangement that still embodies that same warmth and loving sentiment the couple had in mind.

To achieve this result, I also used AI, and here you can see where knowing the right way to word things makes a difference! By using the right artistic terms and describing things like shading, texture and media I was able to get several really nice images… but of course none of them was perfect, particularly when it came to intertwining the tails! I ended up having to draw that part myself, mimicking the style of the generated image. There were also issues where the best fox was in one image, the best otter in another, and the best mountain in yet another! This is where the “photoshopping” skills come in. By breaking each image down into separate elements, I was able to compile each of the best elements into a single image that was just what I wanted, after a bit of manual touch up to make sure everything blended and fit together well.
